Millefiori or ‘a thousand flowers’ is a truly gorgeous material to work with. Beautiful in their detail they are made from bundles of glass canes which are heated, drawn out into fine cylinders then sliced. It is a highly prized material in mosaics, glass fusing and glass bead making. Our Millefiori is made in Murano, Italy by artisans whose craft has been refined for generations. These designs are hand-picked, custom blended and absolutely stunning. Made to a COE of 104 this Millefiori is compatible will Moretti Rods and Moretti Glass.

How can I use Millefiori in my mosaic?

Millefiori is a great feature within your mosaic; its beauty is in its detail. It’s great for adding texture, colour and pattern to your design. Using the indirect method they can be pressed individually into your adhesive, a set of tweezers coming in very handy to ensure your pattern remains top side up! If you’re after a completely flat surface, use the direct method of mosaics; just make sure your Millefiori is adhered well before transferring them to the adhesive (you don’t want any falling off). When it comes to grouting make sure you give these beauties some added attention so they don’t get hidden under any grout.
